  • Outdoor Lighting Code Committee Meeting

    The Pima County Outdoor Lighting Code Committee (OLCC) meets the first Wednesday of every month, and is open to the public.  The OLCC provides recommendations to the City of Tucson Mayor and Council and the Pima County Board of Supervisors regarding the Outdoor Lighting Code, which is currently undergoing a major update.   • Sonoran Desert Weedwackers – Buffelgrass removal in Tucson Mountain Park

    The Sonoran Desert Weedwackers meet three times per month (every second and fourth Wednesday and third Saturday) to pull buffelgrass from the Tucson Mountain Park. Beautiful scenery, community, strenuous labor, and post-event snacks and drinks are provided.

  • Lake Cleanup – Friends of Danny Lopez Park

    Friends of Danny Lopez Park hosts monthly cleanups of Silverbell and Archer Lake.The next cleanup is on Oct. 10. Instructions from organizer Barbara Jones: "We will meet in the parking area at the southern end of lake. When you drive into the park, take the first right and follow this all the way around behind PACC until you get to the meeting spot parking. We will be working along the east side of Silverbell Lake.  If someone has access to a kayak and would like to use it to get some of the trash from the lake, let me know.

  • Pima County Supervisors Vote on Pima Prospers 2025 Comprehensive Land Use Plan

    On October 14, 2025, Pima County Supervisors will vote on the final draft of Pima Prospers 2025 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The event is important to TMA, as we have been advocating for various changes to the previous land use plan, to protect S-8 (Tucson Mountains) region. Pima County’s Board of Supervisors meetings are open to the public. Citizens can attend in person at the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, located on the 1st floor of the Pima County Administration Building at 130 W. Congress St., Tucson, AZ, and on-line.     Join the Coalition for Sonoran Desert Protection (CSDP) for a highway cleanup at the new I-10 wildlife bridge.Details from the Nov. 2 CSDP Newsletter:Join us at the I-10 wildlife bridge, near the new Santa Cruz River Wildlife Ramp, for a highway cleanup! In addition to picking up trash, learn more about local efforts to increase wildlife movement through the Tucson-Tortolita Mountain wildlife corridor. This opportunity is *next Saturday*, November 8, 9am-11am. We’ll be working along our adopted 1-mile stretch of I-10 frontage road. Refreshments and all the tools you need will be provided. After more than a decade of dedicated cleanup along Oracle Road, we're shifting gears and expanding our focus. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in our next long-term advocacy area for wildlife and landscape connectivity.
